Checked baggage for your flight

Information at a glance

Checked baggage for your flight

The amount and weight of the baggage included in your free baggage allowance depends on whether you booked your TUI fly (X3) flight at www.tuifly.com, at a different flight web site or through a tour operator. Flights booked through the web site www.tuifly.com: For flights with the TUI fly airline that you booked at the www.tuifly.com web site, the free baggage allowance for checked baggage is based on the fare you booked: The Pure fare differs from the Perfect fare.

Pure fare: The Pure fare does not include any free baggage. However, with various weight limitations, individual pieces of baggage can be added to the booking. The costs for adding baggage depend on the respective region where the destination is located.

Perfect fare: The free baggage allowance for checked baggage for the Perfect fare is 20 kg. This also applies for children’s baggage (including infants without their own seats). The costs for adding baggage depend on the respective region where the destination is located. Flights booked through a tour operator or a different flight web site For flights with TUI fly that you booked through a tour operator or a different web site, please check your travel documentation to find the information regarding the free baggage allowance for checked baggage.

Premium Seat/TUI fly long routes: For passengers who book a Premium Seat for a TUI fly long route flight, the total free baggage allowance increases to 30 kilogrammes. This also applies for baggage for children (including infants who do not have an assigned seat).

TUI Gold Card holders are entitled to one piece of baggage with a free baggage allowance of 30 kg for the cardholder and up to five people travelling with the cardholder (regardless of age). (Different rules may apply for bookings made through a tour operator. Please contact your tour operator.) No free baggage is included for holders of the TUI Card Classic. Regardless of whether free baggage is already included, online you can quickly and easily expand a baggage booking (e.g. from 20 kg to 25 kg) or add further pieces of baggage (with various weight restrictions).

Amount, weight and size of checked baggage

For flights with TUI fly, the maximum weight for individual pieces of baggage of 32 kg and the maximum dimensions of 80 cm x 65 cm x 45 cm cannot be exceeded. Special rules apply for special/sports baggage and for transporting animals. A maximum of five pieces of baggage can be booked per passenger.

For passengers travelling together under the same flight booking number, the total weight allowed can be distributed across several pieces of baggage. The total weight can also be distributed across fewer pieces of baggage. Please note here that, for safety reasons, a single piece of baggage is not permitted to exceed the maximum weight of 32 kg.

This baggage rule does not apply for passengers travelling together, but with different flight booking numbers. The baggage of third parties cannot be claimed as a passenger’s own baggage and checked for transportation as part of the permitted free baggage allowance or excess baggage.

Checked baggage for infants and children

For flights booked with the Perfect fare, passengers are permitted one piece of baggage that weighs up to 20 kg. This also applies for the baggage of children (2-11 years old) and infants (0-1 year old). The baggage of infants is based on the baggage weight for adults.

For Pure fare bookings, passengers are not entitled to a free baggage allowance. This also applies for infants and children. However, individual pieces of baggage can be added to the booking. Strollers, child carrier backpacks and buggies are transported free of charge.

Adding checked baggage

If you would like to bring along more baggage than the free baggage allowance permits, we recommend that you simply book your additional baggage online. This way, you save time and money, in contrast to booking it at the airport check-in counter.

One piece of carry-on baggage is included in the Pure fare, but you also have the option to book up to five pieces of baggage per route

If you booked the Perfect fare, you have an additional free baggage allowance of up to 20 kg. Here you also have the option to book up to five piece of baggage or additional weight, and you can do so easily online. Note the four different destination regions with regard to the two fares.

If the actual weight of your baggage at check-in at the airport is greater that the weight you originally reported, there are surcharges of EUR 15 per kilogramme in regions 1-4 and EUR 20 in region 5. For example, if the piece of baggage weighs 25 kg instead of the 20 kg booked, the extra cost for regions 1-4 is EUR 75 and EUR 100 for region 5.

This does not apply for special/sports baggage. In this case, one price applies for all of the regions. In the period up to two hours before departure you can still book additional pieces of baggage inexpensively for your flight with TUI fly.

Damage to and loss of baggage

If your baggage is damaged upon arrival, please contact the lost and found office for the respective airline to report the damage.

Baggage transport in case of stopovers

If you booked a flight with stopovers (not two independent flights), the baggage is generally checked through to the destination. This means that you will receive your baggage after you arrive at the destination airport.

However, you always keep your carry-on baggage with you. Before you continue your journey, your carry-on baggage must go through the security check again.

Baggage transport in case of a missed fligh

If you have already checked in and have checked your baggage at the desk, if you miss your flight or connecting flight your baggage will be returned to you. For safety reasons, no baggage is permitted to be transported without the person it belongs to. The aircraft shall only depart after your baggage has been returned to you.

Note: The provisions above apply only for carriage with the TUI fly airline. For flights with other airlines, different rules may apply for baggage. Only those rules and fees confirmed by the respective, actual carrier apply for these flights.
